Increasingly strict environmental regulations and restrictions on solvent use have challenged heating elements producers to find safer alternatives for cleaning coils for heating elements. Traditional chlorinated solvents are no longer a viable option, and mineral oils used during coil winding presented additional cleaning challenges.
Oakley Industrial Machinery addresses this by using a water-soluble, biodegradable lubricant composed primarily of soap with a small proportion of vegetable oils. Our coil cleaning system employs hot water and soap in modified conventional dishwashers to effectively remove the minimal lubricant applied during spiraling – typically just a 5% lubricant and 95% water solution.
Eco-friendly, using biodegradable, water-soluble lubricants.
Flexible drying cycles
Configurable with forced-convection ovens for post-wash processing.
Programmable wash and rinse times
Supports cycles up to 12 minutes for optimized cleaning.

OIM’s coil cleaning system for heating elements features a stainless steel structure integrating a washing unit, draining section, and drying oven. The system includes tailored solutions for water treatment, gas or electric boilers, and ten dedicated tanks for coils.
Advanced technology ensures thorough cleaning of open coils for heating elements, allowing water to penetrate between the turns and remove all traces of biodegradable lubricant. Even for “closed” spirals, the system matches or exceeds traditional cleaning methods using chlorine solvents, effectively eliminating trapped mineral oil residues while staying safe and environmentally friendly.
