Coil tube cutting line – on the fly version

Oakley Industrial Machinery manufactures an automatic tube cutting line from coil, ideal for processing stainless steel tubes in high-volume production. The machine consists of several components, including decoiling, calibrating and straightening units with hyperbolic rolls, designed to straighten stainless steel tube bars up to 40 ft, along with a cutting unit featuring either a score and pull-apart system or a saw cutting system.

Once the operator sets the feed rate, batch size, and tube cutting length via the control interface, the line operates autonomously—guaranteeing continuous, efficient production.

DOUBLE STRIP DE-REELER
With the possibility of loading two tube coils, allowing continuous operation without stopping the machine during coil replacement.

CALIBRATION SYSTEM
The machine is supplied with two calibration heads. The heads are idle. When processing tubes with different diameters, it is recommended to purchase additional calibration units complete with base, roll supports, and rolls in order to minimize changeover time. Otherwise, for each diameter change it is necessary to replace the rolls and guide bushes in the calibration system.

ELECTRIC CONSOLE
Electrical cabinet and operator console complete with touchscreen display, where the operator can program the tube cut length, the number of pieces to be cut, and the line speed.

TRACTION SYSTEM (CATERPILLAR)
This device has two rubber-lined tracks that pull the tube from the de-reeler and feed it through the calibration unit and into the straightening device. The upper track can move upward (open) or downward (closed or running position) by means of a pneumatic cylinder. The pressure applied by the cylinder can be adjusted to suit the tube diameter and wall thickness. As standard, the upper track is motorized, but it is also possible to motorize the lower track with a minor modification.

The score and pull-apart system is an orbital tube cutting process that uses either a rotary blade cutter or insert cutting technology. These methods progressively score the tube along a circular section of its wall thickness, thinning it until a clamp pulls-apart the segment. This system ensures chipless and burr-free tube cuts with perfectly smooth edges and no deformation.

The saw cutting system uses a high-resistance circular blade rotating at high speed to deliver fast, precise, and clean tube cutting results. This technology can handle different tube materials and thicknesses while maintaining exact ninety-degree cuts. Built with durable components and advanced cutting techniques, it provides exceptional longevity, reliability, and consistent performance.
